Student Life

Build community first and from that comes academic excellence.  At the Academy we believe that what takes place ouside the classroom is just as critical as what happens within it.  Our student life program strives to make every student feel challenged, supported and connected.

Student Support

Planning Your Future

The counseling office is staffed by three school counselors and a therapeutic counselor/social worker. Every student is assigned to a school counselor with whom they work starting in ninth grade.  This relationship continues throughout the student's time at the academy and is critical during the senior year and with transition out of the Academy to post-secondary education, work, military, or other pursuits.

Some of the services available to students through the School Counseling Office are:
  • Planning classes in order to be ready for post-secondary options
  • Meeting with students/parents/teachers regarding questions or difficulties
  • Classroom education in career and post-secondary education planning
  • Individual and group counseling
  • Conflict resolution strategies
  • Presenting to parents and students information regarding college and future planning
  • Assisting in communication between parents and faculty
  • Career and college planning, and recommendations for college and scholarships
  • Consulting and outside referral when necessary for parents and students
  • Maintaining and updating student records
