Build community first and from that comes academic excellence.  At the Academy we believe that what takes place ouside the classroom is just as critical as what happens within it.  Our student life program strives to make every student feel challenged, supported and connected.

  • Junior Classical League

    Latin students participate in statewide academic competitions in fall and spring.

  • Library Council

    The group assists the librarians with library tasks which include: shelving books, helping other students find books, stamping & covering new books, washing the white boards in the library & light dusting, and straightening up shelves. Any student with free time during regular library hours may join. We provide on-the-job training. The members’ volunteer time is recorded and it is possible to earn various items from the FA Store.
  • Magic Card Club

  • Math Team

    Math Team is a competitive math team open to all students in Algebra II or higher, who enjoy competing academically. We have fun competing against other schools in our league at meets during the year.

  • National Honor Society

    The National Honor Society has established rules for membership that are based upon a student's outstanding performance in the areas of: Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character.

  • One Act Drama Competition

    Auditions are held in December for actors; other students are welcome to participate on set, tech and crew.

     
  • Outing Club and Trail Crew

    The FA Trail Crew and Outing Club offers students the opportunity to attend various Appalachian Mountain Club volunteer trail crew training sessions in addition to seasonal day hikes and overnight hikes in the White Mountain National Forest. Students also participate, river conditions pending, in a local day paddle on the Saco River. Trail crew training is provided for through the AMC Trails Adoption Program. Presentations are also held throughout the year by guest speakers from the Mount Washington Valley area (SOLO, International Climbing School, Tin Mountain Conservation and many more). The above is offered on a first come first serve basis with preference given to those enrolled in Literature of the Outdoors and Ecology.

  • Raider Patrol

    Faculty nominated students who are assigned to welcome new boarding students during Orientation weekend.
  • Robotics

  • Rock Band

    Classic rock ensemble. This group performs for school functions, dances, community outreach, and other middle and high schools. 10 – 15 performances annually.
  • Scholar Bowl

    Anyone is welcome to participate creating a team of three or four is encouraged.

     
  • Student Council

    The Fryeburg Academy Student council is a group that focuses on student issues, student government, community service and major school events. The group oversees the class election, winter carnival, and community service week. It is also a group where student can bring concerns up for discussion and presents student issues to the administration. All class officers are expected to attend, all students are invited to attend. The student council is led by its own group of officers elected by the student council.

     
  • Sustainability "Green" Team

  • Ultimate Frisbee

    The Ultimate Frisbee Club Team practices and competes during the spring season. The Ultimate Frisbee Club holds pick-up games during summer and fall.

  • Vocal Jazz Ensemble

    10 voice small choruses (with four-piece rhythm section) Performs 20 – 30 times annually. These groups are touring competitive ensembles.
