HOS Boarding Families Update-March 17, 2020

Dear FA Resident Student Families,

This letter is to inform you that we have made the difficult but necessary decision to send all resident students home as soon as you can make the necessary arrangements. For those of you who live in areas where travel restrictions make your child’s return difficult or not possible: we are working with local families to provide homestays until travel home is again possible. Our goal is to have all resident students returned home or placed with a local, homestay family within the next few days.  

A few of you had already made travel arrangements, prior to this letter, and your children have travel dates within the next two weeks. We will support their need to remain on campus until their already-scheduled departures.

Prior to sending you this letter, we met with all our resident students to inform them of this decision, to ensure we answered all their questions, and to get a sense of factors that may affect their travel plans. Our residential and admissions teams will be contacting you following this communique to help you begin travel logistics.

Please know that this evolving situation has caused the Academy to make rapid decisions necessary to safeguard our students’ and our community’s well-being. We do not make these decisions lightly; we are honored by the faith you show in entrusting your children to our care, and we are truly saddened that they will be departing early. 

The school year will continue, of course, with online instruction in the remote learning format we are beginning tomorrow. More updates will be forthcoming as they are available.
