AHOS Update -( Materials Pickup) March 15, 2020

March 15, 2020

Dear Day Students and Parents,

I know these are challenging times, and the situation regarding the coronavirus continues to change daily. I am writing to you today to update you on our most recent information.

  1. Campus is effectively closed to all day students, parents, and other visitors through Tuesday, March 31

Beginning immediately, the campus will be limited to faculty/staff and family members, resident students, and mission-critical vendors.

  1. Monday, March 16:  2pm-5pm Day Student Drive- through for technology/instructions pick-up and retrieval of locker items.

From 2 to 5 pm on Monday, Fryeburg Academy will have a student/parent drive-through session for pick up of technology/instructions and for students to retrieve items from their lockers. During this pick-up period, the following items will be available:

  • Bagged Lunch/Breakfast for the week
  • Google Chromebook w/ Sign-Out
  • Locker items retrieval
  • Gym locker retrieval
  • Library materials
  • Specific class materials (science kits, books, instruments, etc)

We ask any family/student needing any of the above items to begin their queue in the faculty/ staff parking lot. Please remain in your vehicle; you will be directed to specific locations.

Here are the specific details regarding each item:

Take away lunch/breakfast bag for Day Students

Students may come in and pick up a variety of non-perishable food options (and fruit) to supply/supplement their lunch and breakfast for the remainder of the week. This is a free option for all day students who wish to participate.

Chromebook Sign-Out

Students who require a mobile device, may borrow one from Fryeburg Academy for the remote-learning period. If your student did not previously indicate that they needed a device on the survey last week, please contact Joseph Minnich to reserve a device as soon as you are able to do so.

If you are in an area served by Spectrum and you do not have internet access, please consider the following offer:

“Charter will offer free Spectrum broadband and Wi-Fi access for 60 days to households with K-12 and/or college students who do not already have a Spectrum broadband subscription and at any service level up to 100 Mbps. To enroll call 1-844-488-8395. Installation fees will be waived for new student households.”

Locker Items

Students: if there are items you need from your locker, please park in the teacher parking lot and wait in your car.You will be permitted to enter the building individually to get items from your locker.

Gym Locker Items

Students: if there are items you need from your gym locker, please report to the teacher parking lot first and wait in your car.You will be directed to the gym as part of your drive-through and permitted to enter the building  individually to get items from your locker.

Library Materials

If you have books or other materials you would like to request from the library, email Ms. Stryker to request these items, and she'll have the books ready for you as part of the drive-through.

Science kits, textbooks, instruments etc.

Please check for emails from your teachers regarding this possible need. You may be notified by your teacher or you know of an item that would be helpful during the time of remote learning. If you need something specific to a course, like your musical instrument, please connect with your teacher specifically about this need; do not go directly to any building or classroom. Please enter the teachers’ parking lot first, stay in your vehicle, and you will be directed from there. This should also happen during the 2pm - 5pm window.

  1. Tuesday, March 17

Tuesday will be dedicated to remote-learning preparation. Students will receive instruction from the school on the various tools we will be using in the coming days.

  1. Remote-learning schedule to begin on Wednesday, March 18

Below is our remote learning schedule. We will begin remote learning classes on Wednesday.

Students will receive more information by Tuesday regarding expectations for class periods and advisory. Please reach out to the appropriate case manager if you have questions or concerns about a Special Ed student’s needs during this time. Lake Region Vocational Students should look out for information from their program later this week.

  1. Social Distancing

Our current move to remote learning is an effort to facilitate effective social distancing. We ask all community members to practice good hygiene and social distancing practices. Please avoid areas of active virus and crowds and stay healthy.

Again, thank you for your support during this challenging time. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with questions or concerns. Please help us spread the word to families who don’t receive this information by email.

Sincerely,
Joseph Manning
