“Above and Beyond: Revisioned Reality” – a collection of 2D and 3D art
by Joe Keller
During the months of September and October 2017, the Goldberg Gallery will host the artwork of Joe Keller. Joe’s work is wild, wonderful and often “out of this world.” From Brownfield, Maine, Joe has over 30 years of experience creating dynamic and bold 2D and 3D art. He paints in a detailed realistic style, experiments with visual abstraction, and is equally comfortable painting with an airbrush on paper and canvas as he is on motorcycles and cars.
"I was introduced to science fiction at an early age and it has inspired me since," says Keller. "My first touch with this fiction genre was with the Disney movie “20000 Leagues Under the Sea,” filmed in 1953 and shown in 1954. I saw it in 1955 at age eight and it seared in my mind the fantastic possibilities of human achievement."
Joe’s skills as a tradesman enable him to build or fix almost anything. He enjoys taking mechanical things apart, and building new sculptures by intermingling pieces from multiple sources. Mixed metals, steam-punk and sci-fi all capture and hold his creative attention.
Goldberg Gallery will host a "Meet the Artist
" tea Sunday, September 10th
in the gallery between 2 and 4 p.m.
The event is open to the public and free of charge.
