Sadie "Sally" Devine Brown '41

Sadie I. “Sally” Brown, 97, of Fryeburg, died early Monday morning, Nov. 26, 2018 at Bella Point in Bridgton.

She was born on Dec. 4, 1920, in Searsburg, VT, a daughter of, George W. and Clara I. (Sargent) Devine. She attended local schools, graduating from Fryeburg Academy in 1941.

On Dec. 3, 1947, she married Shirley N. Brown in Fryeburg where they made their home.
Although Sally held a few odd jobs in various places as a young woman, her life’s work was as a loving homemaker to her husband and family.
She was a former member of the Grange in East Conway.

Sally had many hobbies and interests which included crocheting, flowers, bird watching, vegetable gardening and canning. Her pickles and relish were family favorites that will be forever missed. She was also an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, particularly, “Big Papi.”
She is survived by two sons, Henry “Hank” Brown and his significant other, Lillian “Lil” Robbins of Naples and Nelson Brown of Fryeburg; two daughters, Patricia Giroux and her husband, Lorenzo “Ren” of Bridgton and Beatrice Rugg and her husband, William of San Antonio, TX; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Currie and her husband, James “Jim” of Fryeburg. She was predeceased by her husband, Shirley on July 22, 2009; a brother, Donald Devine; a sister, Doris “Dot” Kiesman.

A memorial graveside service will be held at 1 PM, Sat., May 18, 2018, at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Fryeburg. Gifts may be given in her memory to the Fryeburg Rescue, P.O. Box 177, Fryeburg, ME 04037. Arrangements are in the care of the Wood Funeral Home, 9 Warren St., Fryeburg. Condolences and tributes may be shared with her family at www.woodfuneralhome.org.
