Edwin Stapans '76

Edwin A. Stapans, 62, of Wakefield and Englewood, Florida passed away unexpectedly Thursday, June 17, 2021 at home.
He was the husband of Brenda L. (Thulier) Stapans.
 
Born in Woonsocket, a son of the late Oscar E. and Joyce E. (Allen) Stapans, he had lived in Wakefield and Englewood, Florida for many years.
 
Ed was a Rhode Island State Trooper for 12 years from 1979-1991, retiring as a Detective Sergeant. He was a graduate of Roger Williams University where he received his undergraduate Degree and then earned his Juris Doctorate Degree also from Roger Williams University. He was a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association and the United States Bar Association.
 
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Glenn A. Stapans and his wife Julia, and Erik W. Stapans and his wife Vanessa, all of Wakefield; one daughter, Kelsey L. Silkes and her husband Mason of Richmond; and his six grandchildren, Oliver and Sebastian Silkes, Isabella Stapans, and Gabriel, Kaia and Alexi Stapans.
 
His funeral and burial in Diamond Hill Cemetery, Cumberland will be private. Calling Hours are respectfully omitted.
