Donald Irish '82

Donald Joseph Irish passed away Feb. 15, 2019, at the age of 55 after a short battle with glioblastoma.
Don was the son of the late Donald C. Irish and Ronita Irish. He graduated from Fryeburg Academy and went on to master many trades. Don was skilled at marine mechanics, welding, automobile mechanics and finally settling in as a long haul truck driver. His second love was “the big red Kenworth.”

Don and his father both shared a love of antique cars, spending countless hours restoring them together. Don’s kindness could be seen when he was surrounded by his animals. Along with his fiancee, Monique, he was a huge supporter of the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society where he helped foster mother cats and their kittens.

He was also a frequent patron of the Barnstormer Theater. He was loved by everyone and touched the lives of those who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him. With a stubborn mind and loving heart, he lived a wonderful and fulfilling life.

Donald is predeceased by his father, Donald C. Irish and his uncle George Irish. He is survived by his mother, Ronita (Graves) Irish; his sister, Cheryl Irish and her partner, Jeff Knox; his nieces, Sara Baker, Lindsey Baker and her partner, Parker Estes; his loving fiancee, Monique Nadeau-Ruby, her two daughters Chantel Ruby and Megan Ruby; her stepson, Lee Ruby and his wife, Stacey and their children, Olivia and Beckett; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, consider donating to the American Brain Tumor foundation or the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society in Lewiston, Maine. A graveside memorial will be planned for the spring.

A celebration of life will take place at the American Legion at 15 Lewiston Road in Gray, Maine, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23.
Cremation arrangements were made by Wilson Funeral Home in Gray.
