At Fryeburg Academy, we celebrate our multi-cultural diversity. With students from over 20 different countries, we are a true international community. Many of our international students are involved in our outstanding English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program. 

While some students come to Fryeburg for our Summer Term Program, half year or full year study abroad experience, most of our students come to the Academy with the intention of completing high school and going on to university.

Upon graduation, 99% of our boarding population goes on to study at a college or university in the United States or abroad.

International Boarding Application Process

  • Please submit an applicationthree recommendations, and all transcripts.
  • Schedule an in-person or SKYPE interview.
  • Our school accepts the SSAT (preferred assessment), TOEFL, or SLEP for standardized testing results. Standardized tests are not required for admission but will be considered if submitted.
The priority application deadline is February 1st. Applications submitted after the deadline will be considered on a rolling admission basis.


  • We request on-campus or SKYPE interviews for all applicants. Please email our Admission Team or call (207) 935-2013 to arrange for a SKYPE interview.
  • Interviews/campus tours take approximately 2 hours.
  • Interviews can be scheduled Monday – Friday. 

International Boarding Tuition

  • International Boarding tuition includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  Meals are available in the dining hall. 
  • An additional fee of $3,500 is required for all international students. This fee covers the intensive and specialized support provided by FA’s Center for International Students: TOEFL preparation and testing, college counseling, and college writing instruction.
