FA Scores! Campaigning for 21st Century Competition Under the Lights
At its 2021 fall meeting, Fryeburg Academy’s Board of Trustees voted unanimously in support of an exciting plan to install synthetic turf and lights at the current football field location, an area encompassing 20% of the main campus but in its current configuration, used for only four varsity and two junior varsity games in the fall, and six girls’ lacrosse games in the spring.
The school has retained Activitas, Inc., a Boston-area firm specializing in planning, landscape architecture, civil engineering, and athletic facility planning, to consult on project design and related considerations.
The plan’s initial phase includes an infilled synthetic turf field suitable for soccer, football, boys lacrosse, girls lacrosse, and field hockey; relocation or refurbishing of areas for discus, long/triple jump, pole vault, and high jump, and reconstruction of shot put area; seating for 640 spectators; sports lighting, a new scoreboard, press box, and sound system; as well as various parking improvements.
