Francis E. Flanagan, age 63, of East Conway, NH, was taken away unexpectedly to be with our Lord at his home due to complications of a long-term illness that he courageously fought and lost the battle to on June 11, 2018
. Francis was born to Paul A. Flanagan and Irene Hamlin on July 14, 1954 in Wolfeboro NH.
Francis attended Fryeburg Academy and graduated in 1972. He then continued his education and attended Auburn Maine School of Commerce where he met Vella Woodward and studied business, graduating in May of 1974. He then enrolled in a cooking school in Lewiston, Maine graduating from there in July of 1974. Francis married Vella in August of 1974 to 1998. He had two daughters, Frances A. Flanagan, born in 1975 and another daughter Amy L. Flanagan, born in 1977.
Francis was always a hardworking man who enjoyed and did what was needed to provide for his family. He loved with all his heart and would do anything he could to help where help was needed. Throughout the years Francis worked at many places; Holiday Inn, as a janitor for Fairview School, King’s Department Store where he met a dear friend, Cindy Buffington, who grew to become family; from King’s he went to Bradlees. After his Bradlees’ career ended, Francis joined Smokey's Greater Shows where he operated amusement rides. When that career ended he landed back as a receiving manager for Walmart in Falmouth, Maine and North Conway, NH.
Francis had the personality! He'd start off as a complete stranger and by the end of the conversation you had yourself a loving, caring friend that you could never forget. Francis would give so someone else wouldn't go without. He was always so happy, no matter the day he was having, he would always have that bright shining smile from ear to ear.
Francis enjoyed many things; family, fishing, friends, the list goes on. Francis had a good friend, a dear friend, a best friend, Willie Moore. When Francis was in good health they would build things, go fishing, joke about everything, go for rides, it was a friendship that was inseparable.
Francis leaves behind his youngest daughter, Amy Flanagan, and her significant other, Herbert Weedon, of Auburn; three grandsons whom he loved more than anything, Chris of Augusta, Robert Cooper and his significant other Tana Coulombe of Brunswick, and Tyler Flanagan and his significant other Alexis Hesketh of Auburn; a great grandbaby due in November; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Francis was predeceased by his oldest daughter, Frances Flanagan, his father, Paul Flanagan, and his mother, Irene Hamlin. Francis will never be forgotten and forever loved by everyone who knew him. There will be a ceremony to celebrate the life of Francis to be announced at a later date.
