Tuition + Financial Aid

...is the priority deadline for all financial aid paperwork. Some financial aid may be still available after this deadline.

At FA, we want every student and family to be able to experience a Fryeburg Academy education.

That's why we offer a number of scholarships and financial aid incentives to qualifying families. Accessibility to FA's outstanding education program has never been easier! 

1. Go to the PFS Online to setup your account.

• Please note that if your parents live in separate households, both parents must complete forms.
• Fryeburg Academy's school code for financial aid - 3340

2. Create your PFS Online account with your email address and a password. If you applied for financial aid last year, simply login to the PFS Online as a Returning Family using the email address and password you set up last year.

3. Begin a PFS for the current academic year. You can log out of the PFS Online at any time, then return later to complete it.

4. After you have pressed submit, you'll be brought to a payment screen. The fee of $49 is nonrefundable. Once your PFS is submitted, it cannot be withdrawn from the SSS system

5. February 1st is the deadline for financial aid paperwork.

Next Steps

After you pay for and submit your PFS, you'll have access in the PFS Online to a section called "My Documents." You can upload the additional documents we require there. We will communicate our financial aid decision to you directly. To make our decision, we use the information from the PFS as a starting point. We also consider our school policies and practices and the budget we have available.

FA's merit-based aid is awarded to qualifying families on a case-by-case basis. Merit awards are capped at $10,000 per family and reviewed annually.

A 529 plan is a tax-advantaged savings plan designed to encourage saving for future college costs. 529 plans, legally known as “qualified tuition plans,” are sponsored by states, state agencies, or educational institutions and are authorized by Section 529 of the Internal Revenue Code. Learn more.

About Bion R. Cram Scholarship

Fryeburg Academy is pleased to offer a scholarship opportunity for Maine and Northern New England residents. The scholarship, named for Bion R. Cram, class of 1933, covers tuition and room and board for a student from Maine and Northern New England. In addition to a full scholarship awarded to the Bion R. Cram Scholar, a number of partial scholarships will be awarded to qualified applicants.

Ready to apply? 

Qualifying students who wish to be considered for this scholarship must submit an essay and interview with the scholarship search committee in person. Applicants must submit their essay with their scholarship application by March 15th.

About The Dirigo Scholarship

With gratitude for the transformative experiences available at Fryeburg Academy for young people and the belief that an education offered within a supportive community can empower an individual for life, generous benefactors have established this scholarship to assist a young person from Maine who has demonstrated high personal promise and who will particularly benefit from a residential secondary school study opportunity. 

Fryeburg Academy enrolls one Macomber Scholar at a time. The scholarship is renewable for the duration of a recipient’s enrollment at the Academy, up to a full four years of secondary study.
