Fryeburg Academy follows a rolling admissions process, so students may apply at any time—there is no fixed deadline.

Applications for the upcoming academic year are reviewed beginning in late fall, with the first decisions released in late December. Decisions continue on a rolling basis as applications and interviews are completed, and most students receive a decision within two to four weeks.

Residential admission is offered as long as dormitory space is available. Once capacity is reached, qualified applicants will be placed on a waitlist. Applying early is encouraged.

Two Options to Apply

Option 1:

Fryeburg Academy Application

To apply, please submit the online application through MyFryeburg, our application portal. Begin the process by creating your account.

Please contact the Admissions Team at admissions@fryeburgacademy.org to request a PDF version of the application form.

Option 2:

We accept the Standard Application Online (SAO). Please search for Fryeburg Academy when submitting your application. Our school code is 3629.

Academic Recommendations

As part of your application, please request that your Math and English teachers complete and submit the required recommendation forms.

The forms may be uploaded to MyFryeburg by the student, a parent, or a teacher, or it may be sent by email to admissions@fryeburgacademy.org

If a teacher has written a letter of recommendation, it may be submitted with the application.

Domestic applicants from the United States are also required to submit the Counselor Recommendation / Transcript Release Form.

Test Results

Standardized Test Results

Submitting standardized test results is not required but is recommended.

Our school accepts the SSAT (preferred assessment) and the SAT for standardized testing results.

International applicants are welcome to submit English test scores such as TOEFL, IELTS, DET (Duolingo), EIKEN, or ELTIS.

Recommended TOEFL scores for placement into mainstream courses (or equivalent):

Grade 9: 65 or higher
Grade 10: 75 or higher
Grade 11: 80 or higher
Grade 12: 90 or higher

Students whose English proficiency is at the intermediate level or below will be placed into one of our five ESL course levels to support their English language development.
