Family Connection & Vacation Homestay Programs

Family Connection Program

Fryeburg Academy's Family Connection Program introduces new international students to our local community and helps them feel at home. The program brings local families and international students together for support, cultural exchange, and an introduction to American culture. Typical activities include invitations to dinners, attending a student's extracurricular activities or sports events, special off-campus day trips, and birthday celebrations. There are no overnight commitments.

Local families interested in learning more about our Family Connection Program, please contact Beth Ross, Sr. Associate Director of Admission, at

Vacation Homestay Program

Fryeburg Academy's Vacation Homestay Program offers resident students the opportunity to stay with local families during scheduled breaks. Vacation homestays are short-term and typically average one week. It's a great way to share our beautiful Mount Washington Valley and all it has to offer with our resident students. All vacation homestays are provided by well-known, local families who have gone through a screening and application process. Please note: international students must live on campus.

Short-term homestay opportunities during the academic year are as follows:

Thanksgiving Recess (November)
Winter Recess (February)
Spring Recess (April)

If you are interested in providing a short-term homestay for our resident students, please contact Beth Ross, Director of Residential Life & Sr. Associate Director of Admission, at Approval of new homestay families is based upon an application and screening process.

"My transition to Fryeburg Academy was made much easier because of my host family. I've never been that far away from home!  I loved having the opportunity to eat homemade dinners a few times a month and go on fun adventures like apple picking with my American family."
