Academics

Our academic program is designed to help students develop the skills they need to be successful in a complex world. From outstanding advanced courses in all subjects, to outstanding arts programs, to experiential offerings, our curriculum is diverse, dynamic and able to meet the needs of a wide range of students.

Program Overview

Fryeburg’s Learning Support Program (LSP) is designed to provide services to students with diverse needs, whether documented or not. Content-area support, study skills, reading and writing strategies, and growth in self-advocacy and self-management capabilities are among the areas addressed.

For students who possess basic academic skills but need to develop better study habits and behaviors, the LSP aims to facilitate educational success by equipping them with varied and transferrable strategies for effective learning across the curriculum.

Program Features

Personal educational planning: individual students each have a learning support team comprised of the Learning Support Program Teacher, grade-level dean, academic advisor, therapeutic counselor (as appropriate), and dorm parent.

Scheduled, daily learning support: this will include traditional tutorial assistance, but the emphasis will be on developing executive functioning and self-management skills. A goals and outcomes-oriented program.
