Updated Information for Seniors

Many colleges are making changes to admission events, deposit dates, and more as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.  We highly recommend that you check your college websites often for updates.  NACAC has provided an online tool to track these changes.  Please click here to review these updates. This tool will update in real-time as they receive input from post-secondary institutions.

Students should continue checking their portals with regard to admission decisions and financial aid award letters.  Please update Mrs. Watson and Ms. Davenport on your post-secondary plans, and let us know if you have any questions

Seniors should continue to apply for scholarships. Be sure to meet application deadlines. Scholarships that are due to Ms. Heininger need to be submitted by 2:35 pm on the day of the deadline--the end of our scheduled school day.  Most online applications also have a timeline, usually 5 pm, but we recommend you submit them by 2:35 pm as well to avoid being late.
SAT Testing Update: Please note that the scheduled August 29th and September 26th SAT test dates at Fryeburg Academy have been canceled for health and safety reasons. Students who are registered to test at another test center should check directly with the test center, including the test center’s website, on the morning of the test.

Fryeburg Academy will be offering school-based SAT testing to all seniors on Wednesday, October 14th.  The post-secondary school counselors will help students register when we return to campus in early September.  Because this is school-based testing, students can not register online through their college board accounts for the October 14th test date.

For many colleges and universities, the SAT and ACT are test-optional due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For more information, please click here.

Updated Information for Juniors

On March 24th, we hosted our junior college night remotely.  FAME presented information on how to apply for financial aid, and a college panel (Colby College, The University of New England, The University of Maine, The University of Southern Maine, and White Mountains Community College) spoke about the college admissions process.  Please view the video for important information and the link to FAME (Financial Aid).

Juniors should also be accessing their SCOIR account to complete their career profile through YouScience, to research colleges, and to start developing their list of colleges.

SCOIR - Career & College Planning Tool

SCOIR is a web-based interactive career exploration and college-planning tool for students, parents, and counselors.
Students can explore career paths based on their unique interests and talents, and compare different colleges/universities based on their personal and academic preferences and tuition and fees.
SCOIR breaks down the college admissions process into manageable steps and helps students find the right fit. With students, parents/guardians, and counselors working together, SCOIR allows students to decide what colleges they will apply to and enable them to centralize their application documents in one place.
