Athletic Update Corner: February 2025

The Raider Athletics winter season is rounding the regular season bend and looking toward the post-season.
There has been plenty to celebrate.
The wrestling team recently performed stellar against the ’25 state dual meet champion, Wells. Next up is the
Class B South Regional Championships on Saturday, February 8, right here at Fryeburg Academy, beginning at
10:00 am. Adrian Luck and Geza Labancz have top seed potential while based on January performances
Clinton Trussel, Isaiah Chisolm, Lincoln Perez, Sandro Luck, Preston Fiel,d and Preston Callum are all
positioned to make some late-season noise.
The Nordic ski team has steadily built momentum since the season started and has recently celebrated Oren
Monteith, Thomas Hubbell, and Sy Stevens qualifying for the U16 New England’s. Will McDonnell and Owen
Reinbach has led in many ways, registering strong performances all season. The Western Maine Conference
The championship meet will be held here at Starks Hill on Saturday, February 8th, at 11:00 am.
The Alpine skiers have established themselves as one of the teams to beat in 2025 in Western Maine
Conference. The boys' team currently sits in the conference top position, led by numerous top-ten finishes from
Merrik Iacozili, Holden Edenbach and Oliver Dean. Mirabel Knowles and Juliana Pacini have steadily
performed well on the girl’s side. Our Alpine teams will enjoy one more week of the regular season before
competing in the conference championships in mid-February.
Indoor Track is enjoying unprecedented success in both the boys' and girls' programs and has consistently
performed among the top teams in the conference. The boys' team won a ten-team meet at USM on January 31st
led by Ty Boone, Haruki Takagi, Freddie Francis, Jacob Eveleth, James Lougee, and Ricardo Schultz. The girls'
team finished an impressive second in the same meet, propelled by Avery Bariteau, Eden True, Reagan Wilson,
and Enna Carbone. The indoor squads have the league championships on Friday night, February 7th at USM
beginning at 4:30.
FA’s youthful girl’s basketball team has competed hard and has been on an upward trajectory all season. Their offense has opened up in recent outings, led by Ines Palomino and Presli Knapp. With two games remaining, the
Raiders will host their senior night celebration on Tuesday evening against Lake Region at 6:30.
Boys Basketball is battling to rebuild early season momentum following some tough outings with a decisive
win over Wells on Saturday. Two regular season games remain – one on the road against rival Lake Region on
Tuesday and senior night at home on Thursday versus GNG.
Girls' Ice hockey is advancing to the quarterfinal round of the MPA playoffs and will face York on Wednesday
night at 8:20 at USM. Carlin Galligan, Isabel Brito, and Azalea Grant have been key to the team’s success all
season and will lead the team’s playoff run.
With five games remaining, boys ice hockey looks to finish the season on a high note. FA’s Jokubas
Mostavicius, Seamus Coleman, and Keifer Gilligan will be key players in chasing that goal.
