Susan Brown Farrington '77

It is with profound sadness and deep love that we announce the passing of an extraordinary woman, Susan Farrington, who left this world on June 2, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She faced every challenge with grace, strength, and an unwavering spirit that inspired all who knew her. Susan graduated from Fryeburg Academy in 1977 and attended Wilma Boyd Travel School in Pittsburgh, PA. On August 10, 1978, she married Wayne Farrington, the love of her life. Together, they raised their son, Scott, in Sweden, ME.

Susan retired after working 30 years in IT for Northern NH Mental Health and Developmental Services. For the past five years, Susan and Wayne made their winter home in Summerfield, FL, returning to Sweden in the summer months to Susan’s favorite place, her camp on Stearns Pond. She loved the peacefulness of the area and especially loved hand feeding her chippies.

Susan was full of life, fiercely loyal, and deeply kind. Whether you were family by blood or bond, she made you feel like you belonged. Her legacy is written in the lives she touched, the laughter she shared, and the love that will continue to grow through her son, grandchildren, and everyone lucky enough to have known her. There was never a challenge she did not face with an “I got this” mentality.

Susan loved hiking, photography, singing, snowmobiling with friends, and the ocean. Her favorite holiday was Halloween, and you could always count on her to make a great costume! She enjoyed singing with the Demark Arts Center Cabaret and Da Capo and participating in the Lake Region Theater group. She had a deep compassion for others and a spiritual connection to nature and the outdoors. She was looking forward to going to Mt Katahdin and her grandson’s graduation.

Susan is survived by her husband Wayne, son Scott (Janet), and her beloved grandchildren, Austin, Brady, and Addison, Green Lane, PA. Sisters Linda Dutil, Sweden, and Sandra Dolan (Don), Las Vegas, NV, brother Stanley (Jackie), Germany, and Aunt Irene Tower, Harrison, ME. Susan had close relationships with her many nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and nephews, cherished cousins, and many friends.

Susan is predeceased by her parents, Stanley and Alice Brown of Sweden. Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, June 29, 2025, at the Specialty Food Building at the Fryeburg Fairgrounds, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm.
