Stephen Lurvey '81

Chip was born in Biddeford, Maine May 3, 1961, to Carroll and June Lurvey. He graduated in 1980 from Windham High School. He then spent a post graduate year at Fryeburg Academy. This is where he met his good friend, Jolene Snow, and his first wife, Marina Guarino. Chip and Marina married in 1983. They shared the love and adventure of the outdoors together. On their days off they’d fish in the warmer months and smelt in the early spring.

While living in Denmark, Maine Chip led a group of Cub Scouts, and he was a member of the Denmark Lions Club. He served as king lion and chaired several fundraising activities. As an active member he won awards for his community service. And he coached softball in Raymond, Maine.

Chip worked as a bagger in Raymond, and eventually store manager at Tony’s Foodland in Naples Maine. He opened a grocery store in 1996 Raymond, Maine called Chip’s Etc.

In recent years Chip worked as a meat cutter for Hannaford in several stores, including the communities of Windham, Falmouth, Topsham, and Auburn. Chip was just reminiscing of his 45 years in the grocery business.

Chip loved to fly fish the Presumpscot River, in Windham, golf weekly with his buddies Dan, Joe and Art. He’d begun hiking and met many new friends on the trails. He started a Facebook page to share hiking with friends.

Chip is survived by his mother, June Foster. His children, Heidi Lough (Philip) and Stephen Lurvey (Mandie Roman) and their two children, Mackenzie and Danica Lurvey, and his former wife, Marina Guarino. Stepchildren Sierra and Sage Tuttle. And numerous friends.

Chip was a kind and thoughtful man who will be remembered fondly by his family and friends.
