Richard Young '72

Rick Young, a lifelong Denmark resident, passed away on August 4th following a brief illness. Rick was born in 1953 to Richard and Eleanor Young.

He graduated from Fryeburg Academy in 1972, and SMVTI in 1974. He worked for 34 years at Yankee Machine. After his retirement in 2018, Rick loved to relax on Sand Pond with a book, take walks, and fall asleep watching the Red Sox and Patriots. He loved spending time with family around the pond, watching movies together, and was a pillar at every holiday, recital, game, or celebration.

Rick is survived by his sister, Lori Cavanaugh; two nieces, Megan Weber (Cavanaugh), and Molly Cavanaugh, and their partners Mark Weber and Kap Rosenberg. He also leaves behind many loving cousins and dear friends.

There will be a graveside service at 2pm on Friday, August 8, 2025 at the L.A. Berry Cemetery, Little Pond Rd., Denmark. Arrangements are under the care of Wood Funeral Home, 9 Warren St., Fryeburg. Online condolences may be shared with his family at www.chandlerfunerals.com.
