Melissa Burnell '96

BROWNFIELD, Maine — Melissa Burnell, 48, of Brownfield, Maine, passed away Aug 11, 2026 at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine, with a broken heart, surrounded by her family.

Melissa was born March 26, 1978, to Eugene and Helen Burnell of Brownfield, Maine.

She lived most of her life in Brownfield and was born on Easter when she was given the nickname Pete.

She lost her mother when she was 8 and lived with and took great care of her dad up until the day he passed Nov. 7, 2025.

Melissa was a beautiful person with a big heart, that we were very proud of everyday. She said she was beautifully broken.

She loved to listen to Jelly Roll and Chris Stapleton.

She was predeceased by her dad Eugene and her mom Helen Burnell.

She is survived by her sister April and brother Randy, plus nieces, nephew and many cousins.

Melissa will be missed by her family and all who knew her.

A graveside service will be held in the fall. We will post online when it will be. It will be held at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Brownfield, Maine.

RIP BABY GIRL WE LOVE YOU TO THE MOON, AND WILL MISS YOU FOREVER.
