Martin Engstrom '56

Martin D. Engstrom Jr., 86, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024, at his home in Fryeburg, Maine.

He was born in Hanson, Mass., on April 28, 1937, the son of Martin Sr and Ruby (Smith) Engstrom. Marty attended Fryeburg Academy graduating with the class of 1957. Martin served in the Air Force. He worked as a transmitter operator for WMTW TV, working at the top of Mount Washington for 38 years.

Martin was a member of Oxford County ARES Amateur Radio, and Master of Paugus 540 Grange in Fryeburg. He enjoyed reading, tinkering, and going to yard sales. He was also very active in church and volunteer work.

Martin is survived by his daughter Anita Williams; and son Daniel Engstrom. Also, by his grandchildren, Jennifer Anita Dix-Engstrom, Jonathan Williams Jr. and Malique Williams.

He was predeceased by his first wife Truma Day Engstrom; second wife Rosalie Beal Engstrom; and oldest son Ralph Engstrom.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, Jan. 20, at The River Church at 2600 E. Main St. in Center Conway, N.H.
