Mark Whitty '74

Mark F. Whitty of Center Conway, New Hampshire, passed away December 17, 2024, at age 70 in his home. Mark was born in Dedham, Mass. to William and Mary Whitty on June 8, 1954. He graduated from Foxboro High School as well as Massachusetts Bay Community College.

In 1981 he moved to New Hampshire to begin his career as an X-Ray technician at Dartmouth Hitchcock Memorial Hospital. Mark spent his time involved in the Church and other community support groups throughout his life. He was a bicycle enthusiast who had a love for independence and the outdoors. He devoted much of his time to being on two wheels. Including his ride from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean.

In his later years he moved to Center Conway, N.H. where he could enjoy his retirement in the White Mountains. Mark was physically active as long as he could be in life. Choosing a life of adventure over a life of relaxation. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his Father William, Mother Mary, and sister Theresa. He is survived by his daughter Mary B. Fitzgerald and her husband Gary of North Scituate, RI, his son Matthew F. Whitty of Canaan, N.H. and his son Michael P. Whitty and his wife Ashley of Portland, Ore. and his two grandchildren Sawyer and Hugo, as well as Brothers and Sisters Wilson, Paula, David, William, Ellen, Mary, and Tom.

Arrangements were made through Furber Funeral Home and Cremation Services. A memorial gathering is being planned for the summer of 2025.
