James Archibald '63

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Professor James "Jim" K. Archibald on Friday, August 23, 2024, at the age of seventy-nine.

Born in Houlton, Maine, on March 7, 1945, Jim was the cherished husband of Rachel Haim for over fifty-four years. Loving father of Georges (Carmit), Ben (Abigail), and Sam (Kate). Adoring grandfather and 'Papi' to Jacob, Chloe, Zachary, Noah, Joshua, Micah, Isaac, Hannah and Abie. Beloved son of the late Justice James P. and Leta K. Archibald; and son-in-law to the late Gourgi and Seraphine Haim. Dear brother of Susan Kluge, and beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Jim was a strong community leader in his adopted home of Montreal, and long-time McGill professor and teacher to many students for over fifty years. Also, a devoted colleague and friend to many professors and students across postings and work in France and Italy.
