Ernestine Hill Walker '54

Ernestine Hill Walker, 88, passed away peacefully on Aug. 22, 2024, at Woodlands Memory Care of Bridgton, Maine.

Tina, as she preferred, was born Nov. 23, 1935, in East Brownfield, Maine, youngest daughter of Ernest and Erla (Dennett) Hill.

She was a longtime resident of Brownfield, Maine. Tina attended local schools and graduated in 1954 from Fryeburg Academy. During her career, she worked at Yield House in North Conway, N.H., Hastings Law Office in Fryeburg, Maine, and Wally’s Store in Brownfield. She was also an outstanding Avon and Mary Kay distributer.

Tina was an amputee after a skiing accident in her early 20s. She designed her own prothesis leg and taught many new amputees how to adapt to their lifestyles and to “never give up.”

Tina was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Carroll Walker.

She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Walker of Brownfield, and many nieces and nephews. She lived a long and abundant life, while keeping everyone in line. Her biggest love was her many dogs throughout her life.

Arrangements were made through Wood Funeral Home of Fryeburg.

Sincere gratitude goes out to the staff at Woodlands Memory Care of Bridgton for the love and excellent care she received under their care as well as the staff of Andwell Health Partners of Maine.

A graveside service is planned for Sept. 29 at 11 a.m. at the Burnt Meadow Brook Cemetery in Brownfield.
