Diana "Dee" Saunders Brown-Day '70

Diana “Dee” (Saunders) Brown-Day from the class of 1970 passed away in February 2026 in New Hampshire.

She was preceded in death by her father, Granville Saunders; mother, Katherine (Shirtzinger) Saunders; and brothers Harvey (‘65)  and John (‘70).  She is survived by her sisters Nancy, Lorraine (‘66), Brenda (‘75),  brother Fred (‘71), son Shawn, and daughter Ericka (Drost) Crane (‘93).  Dee had many relatives and friends who also attended Fryeburg.

She remained very close with Cheryl (Adams) Callen (‘70) throughout it all. She was very proud to be an alumni student athlete and to have had the opportunity to return as staff 20 years later as a dorm parent in Webster Hall and member of the Guidance Department alongside so many fellow alumni and staff who supported her when she was a student.

She always told me to "live your dash," referring to that line between the date of your first breath and your last, etched into tombstones. I think she did just that - lived her dash her way on her terms and would encourage all of us to do the same.

In lieu of donations or gifts, if you have a story you would be willing to share about her, I would be grateful, as I don't know a lot about her and would like to hear stories. They can be sent to lunadviva22@gmail.com. Thank you.
