Dean Trafford '82

Dean Roy Trafford, 61, of Bridgton, Maine, passed away on Oct. 27, 2025, following complications from heart surgery. He was born in Lewiston, Maine, to the late Virginia and Donald Trafford.

Dean grew up in western Maine and graduated from Fryeburg Academy, Class of 1982. He also attended the University of Maine at Orono.

A lifelong outdoorsman, Dean was an avid skier from a young age. He shared his passion by teaching his children to ski at 2 years old at Pleasant Mountain, later tackling many mountains together, including Tuckerman’s Ravine.

Dean also enjoyed boating, snowmobiling and traveling throughout New England for snocross racing with his son.

Dean made concrete work his life’s career. He began with JB Concrete and later founded Trafford Concrete, a business his son proudly continues today. Through his craft and strong work ethic, Dean built and helped build many homes for his family. He had a sharp mathematical mind and took great pride in building of all kinds.

He was predeceased by his parents, and his brothers Danny and Donnie.

Dean is survived by his partner, Delores Derosier; his two children, Katie (Tommy) Fadden and Brian (Missy) Trafford; his five beloved grandchildren, Noah and Myla Trafford, and Chase, Quinn, and Reid Fadden; his siblings Donna (Darryl) Ward, Darryl (Susan) Trafford, Debbie (Harry) Payton, and Darlene (Clayton) Leavitt; his sisters-in-law Terri and Shelly; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Nov. 22, at 1 p.m. at the Fryeburg Fair dining hall in Fryeburg, Maine.
