Asa met the love of his life Karen Schildberg at Fryeburg Academy, eventually marrying Karen, together they raised their children in Fryeburg where they lived for over sixty years.

After Bowdoin, Asa joined his father at the Pike Insurance Agency successfully running the business as the third generation owner for over forty years. He served on the National Board of Directors of Agency Management Systems (AMS) Technology Users Group which he helped grow to more than ten thousand agency members across the United States and was elected President of the organization from 1997 to 1998.

Asa loved the town of Fryeburg. He dedicated his time and energy to the Fryeburg Fair and Fryeburg Academy. Asa’s proudest achievement was leading the Phoenix Project Capital Campaign to rebuild the Gibson Gym, which was destroyed by a fire, with a larger, modern, multi-purpose athletic field house and fitness center which opened in 2007 named the Harvey Dow Gibson Athletic Center and Ada Cram Wadsworth Arena.
