Alan Wayne Warren, 70, Gorham - formerly of Fryeburg and Windham, passed away unexpectedly at his home on December 23, 2024 following a brief battle with blood cancer. Alan was born in North Conway, NH on August 12, 1954, the son of the late Carl Douglas Warren and the late Barbara Clare (MacKay) Warren. Alan attended school in Fryeburg, Maine and graduated with the class of 1972. In August of 1987, he married Marjorie L. Allard. In 1988, he and Marjorie bought a house in Windham. March of 1990 is when their daughter Amanda Lee was born.
Growing up, Alan had a love of bowling, playing horseshoes and hunting. Numerous trophies were won from bowling tournaments. Alan had worked with R. J. Grondin and Sons for 34 years before retiring in November of 2020. That following April would have made 35 years. Alan also enjoyed golfing with people from Grondin’s. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races, both on TV and at the track at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. He also enjoyed watching football and baseball.
Alan, Al or Grampa as he was known as, had recently relocated to Gorham to be closer to his daughter Amanda and her family. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Alexandria and Olivia were the lights of his life, just celebrating Olivia’s first birthday in November 2023.
In addition to his parents Carl and Barbara, Alan was predeceased by his sister, Diane Louise (Warren) Jones and his beloved dogs, Sammy and Zeevah. Alan leaves behind a daughter, Amanda (Warren) Sawtelle and her husband, Russell Sawtelle of Gorham and their two children, Alexandria and Olivia; nephews Michael and Zeynep Jones of Manchester, NH; Erlon Jones of Chatham, NH; great-nephews Hunter Jones and Parker Jones; great-niece Catherine Jones; great-great-nephew Bodie Jones of Manchester, NH and many cousins.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a cancer center of your choosing.
