Osgood Legacy Courtyard Rededicated

Fryeburg Academy recently celebrated the rededication of the Osgood Legacy Courtyard, with Osgood family members, friends, faculty, and staff in attendance.

Members of the Class of 1946 first dedicated the courtyard in honor of C. Earl "Bub” Osgood. In recent years, family members and friends have generously contributed funds to restore and expand the space and to include Bub's brother, James "Jim" Osgood '56, in the naming honor.

The Osgood family has deep roots at Fryeburg Academy dating back to its founding, with the family name appearing on the Academy's original charter. Both Bub and Jim played important roles in the school's history, including serving on the Board of Trustees.

The beautifully refreshed courtyard features cobblestone walkways, stone walls, and seating. It has quickly become a favorite gathering place where students can talk, study, walk, or enjoy lunch or a snack.

During the rededication ceremony, Head of School Joseph Manning spoke about the project's significance. Osgood family members Debbie Osgood Urgese '74, Bub's daughter, and Lakyn Osgood Ela '12, Jim's granddaughter, also shared remarks celebrating the family's special connection to Fryeburg Academy and the legacy this campus space represents.
