Fryeburg Academy Attends BosMUN XXIV Conference
- Academics
FA Model UN participated in the BosMUN XXIV Model United Nations Conference from February 7 to 9. This premier event at Boston University welcomed nearly 2,000 high school delegates from schools across New England, the U.S., and beyond.
With around 50 committees, including the General Assembly, Economic, Social, Crisis, and Historical Committees, delegates engaged in various debates and simulations. Two of our experienced delegates, Ayten Soylemez ('26) and Lilia Vishnyakov ('26), took on challenging roles. Ayten thoroughly researched and prepared to represent a member of the Chilean Parliament, debating the 2021 rewriting of Chile's Constitution. Meanwhile, Lilia participated in the Ad Hoc Crisis Committee, where the topic was undisclosed until the conference began.
Model UN is a guided simulation that develops speaking skills, negotiation, group organization, and critical and creative thinking. Our delegates had a wonderful time and are already planning their schedule for next year's conference!
