Fryeburg Academy Announces Sally Baptista as 2026 MPA Principal’s Award Recipient

Fryeburg Academy is proud to announce that senior Sally Baptista has been selected as the school’s 2026 recipient of the prestigious Maine Principals’ Association (MPA) Principal’s Award. Sally was chosen by Head of School Joseph R. Manning in recognition of her outstanding academic achievement, exemplary citizenship, and demonstrated leadership.

Presented annually by the Maine Principals' Association, the Principal’s Award honors one high school senior from each member school who exemplifies excellence in scholarship, leadership, and service to both school and community.

At Fryeburg Academy, Sally stands out as a dedicated student and strong leader. She has earned Highest Honors throughout her four years at the Academy and is a member of the National Honor Society, serving as a board member and historian.

Sally has made a meaningful impact on the school community. A four-year member of Student Council, she has served as Class President each year and now leads the school’s Interact Club. She’s also involved beyond campus, volunteering with youth soccer and participating in a service trip to Guatemala.

In athletics, Sally’s leadership roles include captaining varsity soccer, indoor track, and ultimate frisbee, earning All-Conference recognition, Coaches’ Awards, and a Western Maine Conference Citizenship Award. She is a founding member of the Raider Report, President of the Daniel Webster Society, a peer advocate leader, and has taken on principal roles in multiple school musical productions, showing consistent leadership and commitment to her school and community.

“Sally is one of those students whose energy is felt the moment she walks into a room,” said Head of School Joseph R. Manning. “She has an infectious laugh and a genuine enthusiasm for being part of this community that lifts the people around her. Whether she’s leading Student Council, competing on the soccer field, performing on the stage,  or engaging in the classroom, she brings positivity and a strong sense of purpose to everything she does. We’re incredibly proud of her and all she’s contributed to Fryeburg Academy.”

Sally will be honored at the MPA Principal’s Award Honors Luncheon on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Jeff’s Catering in Brewer, Maine. The event celebrates over 100 student award recipients from across the state. At the conclusion of the luncheon, ten  $1,000 scholarships will be awarded by drawing.

Fryeburg Academy congratulates Sally Baptista on this outstanding achievement and looks forward to celebrating her continued success.
