Have you ever wanted to build a flying robot or a world-destroying machine? If so, we invite you to join our Robotics Club to start your engineering journey! FA Robotics Club is a close-knit community of highly supportive people with similar interests, ranging from programming to engineering.
By joining, you will have access to diverse tools to collaborate on building, designing, or coding a robot to compete nationally. Remember there is no template you must follow in building your robot—creativity, passion, and resilience will help you weather the bitter trials and errors, eventually leading you to the best prototype! Also, from the beginning to the end of the project, you will acquire hands-on experience building robots from scratch and solving challenging problems as a team.
One of the best parts of Robotics is that your ideas matter. Ideas do not stay as ideas. Regardless of your familiarity with building or coding, you will have ample opportunities to turn abstract ideas into concrete products because you will learn them from our welcoming teammates. This is the only club where members come as early as 7 am and leave as late as 7 pm, just because they love it. Isn’t that fantastic?
During the Robotics meet on January 18th, six Fryeburg Academy teams competed against local high schools in Cape Elizabeth. Team 20005Z reached the semi-finals, ultimately finishing 3rd, while team 20005C, with their alliance, reached the finals, unfortunately finishing second. At the end of the competition, Team 20005Z was given the “Think Award,” given to the team with the best coding program of the tournament, and Team 20005C received a “Tournament Finalist Award.”
If you are considering a future in STEM, this will be an excellent opportunity to explore the key fields of technology and engineering. Even if you are not interested in any of these fields, we strongly believe transforming your sparking ideas into a tangible product will be an otherworldly satisfaction. So feel free to stop by the lab in Cram Library 104 anytime after school; club members are always welcome to help you.
Feel free to come and support FA teams during the next tournament on February 1st in Yarmouth HS.
