FA Delegates Represent on the Global Stage at BosMUN XXV

This year’s delegation to the BosMUN XXV, held on February 6-8 at the Boston Marriott Copley Place, featured both experienced delegates and new voices. Three FA seniors—Lilia Vishnyakov, Doruk Seyar, and Ikram Abounouh—stepped into advanced roles, including two high-pressure crisis committees where Doruk and Ikram were challenged to respond in real time to unfolding events.

In a very different setting, Lilia took part in a historic Supreme Court case simulation, arguing Buckley v. Valeo (1976) and defending campaign contributions as a form of free speech.

Alongside them, Peter Priestman '29 represented Eritrea at the African Union, gaining invaluable experience as a first-time delegate, while Mateus Jedrzejowski '28 represented Italy at the UN Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), contributing to thoughtful debate on the shared and responsible use of outer space.

Reflecting on the experience, senior Ikram Abounouh shared:

“As a senior at Fryeburg Academy and an MUN enthusiast from Morocco, attending BosMUN XXV was my very first Model United Nations conference in the United States. From the very first committee session, I noticed how different it was from the conferences I had attended back home. The pace was faster, the debate more intense, and the expectations higher—but that’s exactly what made it so exceptional. Being part of a crisis committee, where we tackled complex, unfolding issues, pushed me beyond my comfort zone in the best way possible. Representing a political figure added another layer of excitement: I wasn’t just speaking as myself, but fully stepping into my character's mindset and strategy, negotiating and convincing others in real time. BosMUN XXV was not only more challenging but also more dynamic, more engaging, and more inspiring than I could have imagined. The experience renewed my enthusiasm to pursue MUN at an even higher level.”
