The Mt Washington Valley Ski Team has gotten off to a strong start in spite of the slow arrival of the winter season.
After productive on snow training camps at Mt Hood, Oregon in July and Copper Mountain, Colo. this fall the team has posted some impressive results.
Bretton Woods hosted the John Minivan Memorial GS on Dec 19. The team had a terrific day with Ashton Coleman taking the win for the U16 girls. She was followed by Lauren Girard, second; Maddie McKay, fourth; Olivia Colarusso, fifth; Nicole DePaolo, sixth; Morgan Cheney, ninth; Julia Waal, 10th; Cory Easton, 11th; and Kelsey Rizzo, 13th.
Jared Marshall took the win for the U16 guys making it a double victory for the MWVST. Matt and Jacob Kuczynski were third and fourth, respectively. They were followed by Camden Musial, fifth, and David DeMello, sixth.
Colby College and Head Coach Danny Noyes (MWVST and KHS alum) hosted a pair of slalom races at Sugarloaf on Jan. 3. We saw another strong performance from our U16 squad with Jared Marshall placing third in his age group in the first race and eighth in the second race.
Jared Gilman had a sixth in the U16 group. Jacob Kuczynski had a 12th in the same group. MWVST alum Paul Klosterman was sixth overall.
This week U19 athletes Morgan Crowther and Julia Worden are competing in a FIS series at Sugarbush, Vt.
That's the wrap for now. Thank you to the local ski areas and merchants for their continued support.
