Music

You have access to a diverse selection of classes and musical ensembles, taught by teachers who are active as professional musicians as well.  Our music curriculum enriches Fryeburg Academy’s well-rounded education, prepares students for life-long participation in the arts, and careers in music.

• Introductory level courses are designed to give students an introduction to music technology, guitar, piano, wind instruments, vocal techniques, and music theory.  

• Our advanced courses are designed to prepare students for top collegiate music programs, and professional experiences in music.  

Music is an exciting part of our campus life...

At the center of the music program are Fryeburg Academy’s concert band and choir.  These large ensembles rehearse during the school day, and perform a wide variety of challenging music on and off campus.  Jazz is also a very important part of the music experience at Fryeburg Academy. These ensembles perform frequently on campus, and at festivals throughout the region.   Fryeburg Academy frequently hosts world-class guest artists who work and perform with Fryeburg Academy students.  Recent guest artists have included pianist Laurence Hobgood, the vocal jazz ensemble, Vox One, and jazz guitarist John Pizzarelli.

Members of the FA Music Program perform in many events including school musicals, plays, parades, concerts, reunions, games and competitions.  We have chorus and band offered as classes and other music groups are offered by audition.  We are very proud of the many diverse accomplishments of our music students.
